My therapy room is deliberately designed to make you feel comfortable, safe and relaxed - unlike many other practitioner environments, which tend to be more clinical in style. Rest assured, you will be met with kindness, compassion and no-judgement!
First, I will want to know your general medical history, background, and what you would like to address in the sessions, this will take around half an hour and is your opportunity to really open up. Each session thereafter (if necessary) lasts for approximately one hour, however there is no ticking clock, if you need a little longer your needs will be met.
Hypnosis is a psychological procedure that can help to change how you feel and act. In hypnosis, you will be in a state of focused concentration that involves becoming less aware of your surroundings. In this state, your subconscious mind is more able to accept 'suggestions'.
You will be invited to relax in a big comfy chair and guided into a wonderfully relaxed trance. You will be awake and fully aware of what is happening at all times and I cannot influence you to do anything you don’t want to do or say, this includes clucking like a chicken!
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves moving your eyes in a specific way while you process traumatic memories or emotions. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. It can also be used to stop unwanted behaviours and to re-organise the files in your brain - freeing up capacity to move forward.
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and alive, body and mind united. It’s a science backed pathway to a better quality of life, greater emotional, mental and physical wellbeing, increased happiness levels, reduced stress and better relationships.
It can lead to immediate and striking results – feeling happier, calmer, more fulfilled and increases concentration levels. An amazing toolkit to deal with stress and anxiety long term.
In fact recent statistics are striking and if you would like to delve a little deeper, see further information about my Mindfulness courses that can be delivered in schools, workplaces or in the community.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a psychological approach that involves helping individuals identify and change negative thoughts and behaviours and promotes positive change. It relates thoughts, language, and patterns of behavior learned through experience to specific outcomes. This is used to aid the coaching element of treatment alongside Mindfulness techniques.
I hope you can appreciate that this is a unique range of therapies brought together in order to offer a holistic solution to your health and wellbeing needs. I am dedicated to helping others find the peace, contentment and new lease of life that it gave me.
